I thought I would share a couple safety tips I have learned over the past few months...
- If you listen to music, don't use the noise cancelling ear buds and only put in one ear. That way you can still hear your surroundings.
- Run on the left side of the road against traffic so you can see the cars coming toward you (and you can jump out of the way if you need to...)
- I like running at night, especially in this heat. It's a good idea to get a reflective vest or something... Because people do not see you.
- I listen to a bunch of running podcasts and one of the guys I listen to a lot was hit by a car a couple months ago. Luckily he stayed conscious the whole time and was able to tell the medics who he was... He mentioned a great product that he wears now called Road ID. It has your name and an emergency number on it, as well as a website that you can put in any vital information (if you're allergic to anything...)
I have just been carrying my liscense with me, but I decided to order one of these. They gave me a coupon that I could pass along to my friends. Here's the coupon number:
Coupon Number: ThanksTim760394
The coupon is good for 20 uses and it's $1 off any Road ID order placed by 06/27/2010. If you want to order one, I have a banner link at the top of this page.
If you could go through that link I would appreciate it.
If you know of any other safety tips, pass them along... Happy Running!!
